Spray Foam Insulation.

Spray foam is the most energy efficient type of insulation on the market and the only insulation that will completely air seal a structure which is very important when looking at building performance. The two most common types of spray foam insulation is Open Cell and Closed Cell. Both have many benefits and can be used in very different circumstances. When investing in insulation for your building there is more to look at then just upfront cost. Spray Foam Insulation may have a higher installment cost but the energy savings and added value to the building will make it pay for itself overtime.

Closed Cell

  • Can be applied at low temperatures (as low as 50F)
  • Adds structural strength as well as impact resistance
  • Higher R-value per inch  â€“ easier to achieve high R-value* requirements in tight spaces
  • Wont sag or settle overtime
  • Lower vapor permeance (can be a Class II VDR)
  • water resistant
  • Can be used for exterior applications

Open Cell

  • Can be installed at a significantly lower cost and target the same specified R-value*
  • Can achieve greater R-value if not restricted by space
  • Lower raw material/resource use
  • Permits bi-directional drying
  • Wont sag or settle overtime
  • Will accommodate long-term creep and seasonal movement
  • Hydrophobic material
  • Air barrier and insulating material
